Dr. Sujit Ghosh Receives Prestigious VAIBHAV Fellowship Award

We are proud to share that our own Dr. Sujit Ghosh has been awarded the prestigious VAIBHAV Fellowship by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India. Professor Ghosh, a distinguished faculty member in the Department of Statistics at NC State University, will be hosted by Dr. Radhe Srivastava at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT-B).

The VAIBHAV Fellowship is an elite and highly competitive program aimed at fostering collaboration between the global Indian scientific community and premier institutions in India. Out of 217 applicants worldwide, only 17 researchers were selected for this honor — a testament to the international recognition of Prof. Ghosh’s impactful research in statistical and data sciences.

Through this fellowship, Dr. Ghosh will receive support to engage in collaborative research with faculty and students at IIT-B, as well as with leading researchers across India. Over the next three years, he will spend one to two months annually at IIT-B, contributing to research and education in cutting-edge areas such as statistics, biostatistics, and climate sciences.

This remarkable recognition not only celebrates Dr. Ghosh’s outstanding scholarship and leadership but also enhances the global visibility of the collaborative research emerging from NC State. Dr. Ghosh has played a pivotal role in strengthening the partnership between NC State and IIT-B, including his instrumental efforts in establishing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two institutions.

In addition, Dr. Ghosh has been invited to deliver a plenary talk at the upcoming NDMC Conference, which will be held at IIT-B in December.
