The New Academic Year

The Department of Statistics began the 2016-17 academic year with its annual ice cream social. Over bowls of Howling Cow ice cream, the department welcomed its newest class of undergraduates, online master of statistics students, graduate students and certificate students. Howling Cow is premium ice cream made at NC State using dairy products from university cows. Alison McCoy organized the event.

After the ice cream social, the interim department head, Len Stefanski, introduced our new faculty members: Ryan Martin, Brooke Alhanti and Shu Yang. He also introduced our new contracts and grants manager, Daniel Green. The social was capped off with the new graduate students introducing themselves with one interesting fact.
