Statistics Department Ice Cream Social

The Department of Statistics kicked off the 2014-2015 school year with the annual ice cream social. The department welcomed its new and returning students, faculty, and staff over bowls of Howling Cow ice cream. Howling Cow ice cream is made at NC State using dairy products from university cows.

After the ice cream social, Monste Fuentes introduced the department’s new faculty members Joseph Guinness and Jon Stallings, returning faculty member Jacqueline Hughes-Oliver, and new staff members Lanakila Alexander, Donna Barton, and Markus Byrd. Lanakila received a special award from the Staff Senate for her advocacy of staff rights throughout the university. The ceremony was capped off with forty-one new graduate students being introduced by their Stat Buddies.
