Celebrating our December Graduates

The NC State Department of Statistics is proud to celebrate its December 2015 graduates. This year, 16 undergraduates received bachelor’s degrees. Of the graduate students, 10 received master of statistics degrees, one received a master of science degree, and seven received doctoral degrees. The ceremony occurred on Dec. 18 in SAS Hall and was followed by a reception in the Daniel L. Solomon Statistics Commons.

The commencement speaker was A. Blanton Godfrey, the Joseph D. Moore Distinguished University Professor of Textile & Apparel Technology & Management at NC State and a former dean of the College of Textiles. Godfrey earned his Ph.D. in statistics from Florida State University and is a Fellow of the American Statistical Association. Prior to joining NC State, he was chairman and chief executive officer of Juran Institute, Inc., an international management consulting, research, and training organization focused on quality management and business excellence.

The ceremony also featured remarks from December graduate Meng Li. He is a visiting assistant professor in the Department of Statistical Science at Duke University. His advisor is Subhashis Ghoshal. Meng has won several awards, including the 2014 JSM student paper award.
