Celebrating the History of NC State Statistics – 75 Years of Excellence

The Department of Statistics invites alumni and friends to a celebration on Oct. 7-9, 2016, commemorating 75 years since the department’s founding in 1941 by renowned statistician Gertrude Cox. We will celebrate the achievements of many of our alumni and also feature prominent keynote speakers.

The speakers will include Dr. Jim Goodnight, co-founder and CEO of SAS Institute Inc.; John Sall, co-founder and executive vice president of SAS; Bruce Weir, a pioneer in statistical genetics and professor of biostatistics at the University of Washington School of Public Health; and Doug Nychka, director of the Institute for Mathematics Applied to Geosciences. Topics will include statistical computing, environmental statistics, biostatistics, and statistical genetics.

Please save the date for this celebration. The conference will be in SAS Hall, while the banquet and reception will be in the Talley Student Union on NC State’s main campus. More information to follow.
