Welcome to Our New Team Members!

We are excited to introduce four new faculty and staff members who have recently joined the Department of Statistics at NC State University. Each of them brings a wealth of experience and a unique set of skills that will greatly enhance our department. Please join us in welcoming them to our team!

Camille Goodridge – Administrative Support Specialist
Camille joined us in January 2024 and has taken on all front desk responsibilities. Hailing from New York City, Camille brings 26 years of administrative experience to the role. She previously served as a clerical associate in the Office of the City Clerk in New York, where she worked closely with the public. Camille’s extensive background makes her a perfect fit for our department, and she is excited to help us maintain our top-tier status.

Spencer Hamrick – Lecturer
Spencer, an NC State alumnus and North Carolina native, joined us in July 2024. He holds an M.A.T. from Georgia State University and a BSME from NC State. With a career that began in mechanical engineering and transitioned into education, Spencer has gained valuable teaching experience at seven institutions in four states. Before joining NC State, he served as a lecturer at Purdue University’s Department of Statistics. Spencer is excited to be back in North Carolina and contribute to the land-grant mission of the university.

Elijah Meyer – Assistant Teaching Professor
Elijah also joined us in July 2024, coming to NC State after completing a two-year postdoctoral position at Duke University. His research focuses on improving the teaching and learning experience in statistics education, with specializations in data science pedagogy and instrument development. He is also passionate about sports analytics and developing tools that support data-driven decision-making. Elijah earned both a Master’s and a PhD in Statistics with a focus on education from Montana State University. Originally from Great Falls, Montana, Elijah is excited to bring his expertise to NC State.

Mela Pittman – Communications Specialist
Mela, a Raleigh native and graduate of UNCG, initially joined us in a temporary role in August 2023 before officially becoming a permanent member of the team in March 2024. She has a background in communications, digital marketing, and event planning. Mela enjoys letting her creativity shine by uplifting others and making a difference. We are excited to see how she will elevate our department’s communication efforts.

We are thrilled to have Camille, Spencer, Elijah, and Mela join our team. Please extend a warm welcome to them as they settle into their new roles!
