SGSA Updates – Spring 2025 Edition
This semester, SGSA was proud to host a variety of events that brought together our graduate student community, faculty, and alumni.
We kicked off the year with a Chinese New Year celebration on January 30, 2025 where students gathered for an afternoon of festive food and cultural appreciation.
We hosted this year’s annual Research Round Robin on February 13, 2025, where faculty members introduced their research areas to graduate students, fostering connections and inspiring potential collaborations.
On March 7, 2025, we organized an International Dinner with our administration and staff team, celebrating the incredible diversity within our department through homemade dishes from around the world. The event also served as a warm welcome to visiting potential Ph.D. students who were accepted to our department.
In addition, SGSA supported Service Raleigh—one of the largest student-led service events in the area—by encouraging students to engage with and contribute to the local community.
Finally, on April 10, 2025, we organized a Graduate Student Panel with Department Head Dr. Kimberly Sellers. During the panel, students shared their experiences and reflected on navigating academic pressures and uncertainty amid broader changes in the U.S. academic landscape.
We are deeply grateful to everyone who participated in our events and look forward to building a supportive community for statistics graduate students!
