Sujit Ghosh, Professor of Statistics at North Carolina State University, was among 21 statisticians recognized from around the world as an Elected Member of the International Statistical Institute (ISI).

Elected membership in the ISI is a prestigious honor bestowed upon individuals who have demonstrated exceptional contributions to the advancement of statistical science, leadership in the profession, and significant achievements in research and education. Established in 1885, the International Statistical Institute is one of the oldest international scientific associations in the world, serving as the global network for statistical professionals and connecting top statisticians from over 100 countries.

Ghosh’s recognition stems from his distinguished record of scholarship and service to the global statistical community. Over his career, he has made influential contributions to Bayesian statistics, nonparametric modeling, spatial-temporal data analysis, and interdisciplinary applications across biomedical and environmental sciences. In addition to his research, he has held key academic administrative roles, including serving as the Deputy Director of the Statistical and Applied Mathematical Sciences Institute (SAMSI), and has mentored over 50 doctoral students and early-career researchers.

As an Elected Member, Ghosh joins an elite international body of statistical leaders dedicated to fostering the development of statistical methods and supporting the effective use of statistics worldwide. “I am deeply honored and grateful to the ISI for this recognition and for the opportunity to join such a distinguished global community of statisticians.
