On August 14, retired NC State alum Robert Starbuck and Roberto Gutierrez of the SAS Institute held a workshop at NC State. Their all-day workshop “Effective Presentations for Statisticians” teaches statisticians to communicate results more clearly. The course covers topics like assessing and adapting to the audience’s background and knowledge base and how to design oral presentations and slides to deliver information more effectively. Although they sound like common sense ideas, these skills can greatly impact how well an employer or a client understands one’s results.
