Annual Beach Trip — Cancelled
The NCSU Department of Statistics annual beach trip is for Faculty, Staff, Graduate Students, Emeriti Faculty, Alumni, Families and Friends of the Department. It is scheduled for September 6-8 at Atlantic Towers, Carolina Beach NC.
Ice Cream Social – 2019
The NCSU Statistics Department started off the 2019-2020 academic year with an Ice Cream social. The University’s Howling Cow Ice Cream was a big hit.
Spring Graduation – 2017
The Department of Statistics held its spring commencement ceremony on May 13. Undergraduate and graduate students happily received their degrees in front of an audience full of family and friends.
75th Anniversary Conference – A Celebration to Remember
The Department of Statistics celebrated its 75th Anniversary during the weekend of October 7-9, 2016. The department was founded by renowned statistician Gertrude Cox in 1941, and the anniversary weekend celebrated its history of excellence in research and teaching.
The New Academic Year
The Department of Statistics began the 2016-17 academic year with its annual ice cream social. Over bowls of Howling Cow ice cream, the department welcomed its newest class of undergraduates, online master of statistics students, graduate students and certificate students.

Celebrating our December Graduates
The NC State Department of Statistics is proud to celebrate its December 2015 graduates. This year, 16 undergraduates received bachelor’s degrees.
Orienting Our New Graduate Students
The Department of Statistics held its new graduate student orientation on Aug. 18. This year, the Department welcomed 51 graduate students, one of the largest classes in its history.
It was another great year for the Department of Statistics at the 2015 Joint Statistical Meetings (JSM). This year, the Department participated in 165 sessions during the event.
